The 4th of July is a public holiday in the United States. It is called The Independence Day because it commemorates the Declaration of independence. This is a historic US document, which states the theory of government on which the United States was founded based on the right "to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". The statement was issued by the American Continental Congress on 4July 1776 and it declared the Thirteen colonies independent of the Kingdom of Great Briton. The political connection with Britain was ended. The Thirteen colonies were: New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Main, Rhode Island and Providence plantations, Connecticut, New York and Vermont, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky and West Virginia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia as we know their names today.

Following a resolution moved on 7 July,"that these United colonies are, and of right, ought to be, free and independent States, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were set up to draft a declaration. Both of them participated in the same committee, but Thomas Jefferson was the one to do most of the work. The Declaration was adopted on 4 July, therefore it has been celebrated as Independence Day ever since.

I agree that this day, respectively the Declaration, has contributed a lot to the progress of America. I believe that this day is the perfect reason for a family to have some happy time together. It is fact, with very small exceptions, that people have to work a lot these days to earn enough money not only to raise their children and save for their education but also to live without a constant pecuniary difficulties. Furthermore parents tend to work even in their "free" hours for the sake of their children dismissing the fact there is not any time left for spending with their kids. I am sorry to exemplify this situation with my own family. I know perfectly well, that celebrations might be the only possible hours spend with the whole family together. Therefore I believe that 4July – The Independence Day, is not only a historical event for the Americans but also the dreamed of free day.

I am not American and have never celebrated at this date. In my country we have many different traditions for celebrating our special religious or national feasts and holidays. I know most of them even though sometimes they differ in the different regions of the country. That is one of the reasons why I have always been interested in how do people from other counties celebrate. For the celebration of 4th of July in the United States I know very few details from some American movies. Nevertheless, from the bare name of that day I already know that it could easily revoke patriotic feelings. It is good to believe in your nation and to feel the people around you closer not only because of the language you speak. Looking at the annual fireworks on that special for your own country day should make you more positive of the next day just because you know that you are not only a single individual in the immense universe but a part of your family, society and nation . The idea that all the people from the United States or any other country still celebrate their historical, cultural or scientifical achievements must be good enough for people to know that they part of a civilized society. For me it is even more important that we have already some World celebrations. The "World" days help people from all over the world to help each other and to volunteer for the good of our planet.

The Independence Day was a special event in the American history that should be commemorated as long as the American nation believes in its terms: in "life, liberty and pursuit of happiness"!
