Lapland - a country that you won't find on the map. The native country of Santa Clause and the North elks spreads far beyond the Polar circle between Finland, Sweden and Norway.
Where else would the winter be more beautiful than here?! Thick snow has covered hills, woods and fields. Only for several hours the sun shows up at the horizon and then slowly dies in the night. The moon light, millions of stars and the northern lights remain with you, so that you could find the magic of this land.
If you want to have a perfect 7 day trip to this paradise you could use the following plan:
Day 1: Arrive in Helsinki, the capital of Finland, find accommodation in this beautiful city and prepare for the best trip in your life.
Day 2: Make a panorama tour around Helsinki
This tour would reveal to you the city sightseeings - The Luterian church, the Senate Square, the Helsinki main street - Mannerheimintie, where you will see the Parliament, the National museum, the Opera, Finlandia Hall - the most famous concert and conference center is, projected by architect Alvar Aalto. You will visit the Sibelius park, where you could take a picture of the monument of the 527 steel bagpipes, which was built in the honour of the famous Finnish composer Sibelius.
In the afternoon take some free time.
Day 3: Transfer to the airport. Take the first possible flight to Lapland in the morning. After you land in Ivalo, go to the most famous Finnish winter resort - Saariselke. Look for an accommodation in one of the many wonderful and luxury hotels. Take a free day for fun. Have an evening sauna in the hotel.
Saariselka, the most famous winter resort in Europe, is situated in the heart of Lapland. And there you would find everything necessary to make your vacation the way you want it to be. Day 4: A one day trip to Rovaniemi - "The beating heart of Lapland".
The excursion will take you to a white fairytale.
In the small town of Rovaniemi, the capital of Lapland, is situated the home of Santa Clause. Also this year children from the whole world have sent to the white-bearded old man over 700000 letters.
And you will have the chance to tell him your wish personally... In the evening - return to the hotel. A festal dinner in the restaurant of Hotel Riekkionlinna with live music and fireworks.
Day 5: A snowmobile safari
Each of you will have to wear a special winter costume, receive a helmet and will be ready to fly with the snowmobile around Lapland... During a short pause on the way, sit around the fire and take a delicious sandwich with smoked elk meat and a cup of coffee. And then again the snowmobile will take you trough snowy slopes of the polar land, where the deep calmness and silence is disturbed only by the jingle of the bells of the running elks.
Day 6: The day would be a nice opportunity for fishing in an ice hole, a husky dog safari or elk safari, here in the heart of Lapland.
Don't miss visiting an elk farm, taking part in the cross-country tours, tobogganing or ski running...
Day 7: Take the plane back to Helsinki and have some free time around this beautiful city.
